Initiative 5% (France)
Initiative 5% is a facility implemented by the public agency Expertise France and complementing the Global Fund Initiative in building a more effective response to pandemics, with a focus on HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis, and strengthening the health impact of funded programmes for populations. Set up in 2011, it supports recipients in accessing Global Fund funding and improving the effectiveness of grants, mainly in French-speaking countries.

There is currently one funding opportunity available:
- Call for expressions of interest in the Initiative 2024 SOFIA scheme: The aim of the Initiative via the SOFIA mechanism is to support local civil society organisations (CSOs) in participating in the fight against pandemics (HIV, tuberculosis and malaria), the strengthening of health systems (including community systems) and the fight against gender inequalities and for human rights. It focuses on the following countries: Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Chad.

The SOFIA scheme is aimed at medium-sized organisations active in the fight against HIV, malaria and tuberculosis and/or working to strengthen health systems and/or access to health for key population.
Please note that the applicant organisation must be registered and active in one of the following 4 countries: Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Chad.

EUR 50 000-75 000 grant for a period of 15 months, renewable up to 3 time to cover operating costs, human resources and/or activities.
